Yo-Zuri 3DR-X Series Jerkbait Review

The Yo-Zuri 3DR-X Series Jerkbait is a brand-new offering to the bass fishing market. I’ve not always been a huge jerkbait fan but in recent years, I’ve quickly realized how effective they are for catching bass.

This particular jerkbait has impressed us with its paint schemes, excellent suspension, high-quality components and outstanding action that produces bites all year long.

The Yo-Zuri 3DR-X Series Jerkbait is a great size

Yo-Zuri 3DR-X Series Jerkbait Review

Jerkbaits aren’t only a cold-water bass fishing bait. I’ve become a big believer in these baits throughout the entire year and I’m convinced they’re one of the most effective ways to catch a bass. I’ve tested a lot of jerkbaits lately and this jerkbait certainly stands out to me.

It only dives 3 feet which, in my area, is a nearly perfect depth range. It’s not a huge bait, only measuring just over 3 inches, so it’s a great bait for bass keying in on shallow and smaller baitfish. If you see them chasing bait near the bank, you can fire this in and get ‘em to bite.

Beautiful 3D prism finishes

Yo-Zuri 3DR-X Series Jerkbait Review

I’ve always liked Yo-Zuri jerkbaits, even dating back to my college fishing days. They look good and they have a great “nervous” action when twitched on the retrieve. It seems as if they’re continuing with that repuation with the Yo-Zuri 3DR-X Series Jerkbait. This is one of the prettiest jerkbaits I’ve seen in years. My buddies and I call these jerkbaits “bass candy”. They catch bass whether it’s cloudy or sunny.

Of course, this particular 3D prism finish seems to shine the brightest under sunny skies. With the naked human eye, you can see how much sunlight it reflects as you incorporate the popular “jerk, jerk, pause” retrieve. It nearly looks like a flashlight underneath the surface at times and that’s no exaggeration.

High-quality components

Yo-Zuri 3DR-X Series Jerkbait Review

Years ago, I always viewed Yo-Zuri as a high-priced option; when I was a broke college angler, I’d save up to grab a few of these baits. In recent years, however, they’ve become incredibly affordable without sacrificing quality. This lure only costs $7.99 and for the price, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a more high-end bass fishing lure.

The treble hooks are super sharp and will not bend when a fish pulls hard at the side of the boat. The hook points will also not roll over when fishing against hard cover such as rocks. Finally, the split rings hold up very well when you hook the occasional striped bass.

The bottom line

Yo-Zuri 3DR-X Series Jerkbait Review

If you’re looking for an easy-to-fish lure that will catch bass throughout the entire year, you’re going to want this one; you can fish it on a medium-action casting rod on 12-pound test or a medium-action spinning rod on 8-pound test. Fish it around shallow docks, riprap, shoreline vegetation or isolated cover and you will most likely catch some fish.
